Legacy Planning
Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)
Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). One option when receiving Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) is a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). This allows a person to make a charitable donation from an IRA and apply it against the annual RMD. QCDs are excluded from AGI (Adjusted Gross Income). Using QCDs may be more impactful in reducing Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA) Medicare premiums than other charitable giving strategies. A QCD must be issued as a check from your custodian or trustee directly from your IRA to your chosen charity. In addition, the charity must be a 501(c)(3) organization to qualify as a QCD. The Nurse Honor Guard – Southern California is a 501(c)(3) organization..

Gift Planning
Gifts of Stock or Appreciated Securities. Donating stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares you've held longer than a year is often more tax-efficient than giving cash — you can generally avoid capital-gains tax on the appreciation while deducting the full fair-market value.
Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) Grants. If you have a donor-advised fund through a provider like Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or a community foundation, you can recommend a grant to the Nurse Honor Guard Southern California at any time, or name it to receive part of the fund's balance later.
Gifts in a Will or Living Trust (Bequests). A bequest is one of the simplest legacy gifts: a set dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or whatever remains after loved ones are provided for. It costs nothing during your lifetime and can be updated anytime.
Beneficiary Designations. Naming the Nurse Honor Guard Southern California as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, retirement account, or bank/brokerage account is a quick, no-cost way to give that doesn't require rewriting your will.
