Anibel Gean dedicated her life to the high calling of nursing, beginning her extraordinary career in 1979 after graduating from the nursing school at Cebu City Hospital in the Philippines. For over forty years, she was a fiercely compassionate nurse, best known for her time at Parkview Hospital in Riverside, where she specialized in the surgical unit as a charge nurse. She was a natural leader—eloquent, focused, and deeply respected by the managers, doctors, and staff who worked hand-in-hand with her. She was the embodiment of what a nurse leader should be: highly organized, willing to step in to draw blood or admit patients to support her team, and always treating those in her care exactly as she would her own family. Her dedication to excellence earned her numerous awards and the deep love of everyone in every hospital she served.

Beyond the bedside, Anibel’s most profound legacy lives on through her family, particularly her daughters, two of whom she inspired to follow in her footsteps. She was a mentor in both life and practice, teaching them the art of time management, the necessity of organization, and the compassion required to survive and thrive in nursing. During her final days, the family she cared for so deeply turned that same profound care back toward her. Surrounded by her husband, daughters, and the grandchildren she adored, Anibel experienced the ultimate dignity and peace. Her life was a testament to the quiet strength, brilliant leadership, and unconditional love that define the very best of the nursing profession.
